Sen. Schumer: Failure to pass clean debt ceiling would endanger senior citizens

NEW YORK STATE (WRGB) — Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is sending out a warning to House Republicans, saying they need to pass a clean debt ceiling to avoid risk to senior citizens.

"Anything less than a clean package is irresponsible, but it's also dangerous. Dangerous to the millions of seniors who depend on these checks for their rent, their food, their mortgage, etc."

This week, 32 Republican senators said they would only raise the debt ceiling if it came with substantive spending and budget reforms.
