WASHINGTON (TND) — A woman apparently got sick while President Joe Biden was giving a speech in celebration of the Louisiana State University Tigers women's basketball team during a ceremony at the White House Friday.
"Folks, it's OK," Biden assured the assembly.
Video shows Biden speaking at a podium as attention diverts to a scene off-camera.
"I got you. I got you right here. You’re not going to pass out again," someone says to the woman.
"Here’s some water," another person says.
The woman was brought a wheelchair and the audience clapped for her as she was pushed away.
"Like I said, it's not the first time it's happened," Biden said reassuringly. "Not to her, but a lot of folks standing up at this stage."
He added that "it's a lot of standing" and also apologized.
LSU was at the White House to celebrate their 2022-2023 NCAA championship.
It wasn't immediately known was caused the woman's illness.
Biden was hosted the NCAA championship men's and women's basketball teams at separate events.
Biden also was welcoming the UConn's men's championship team later Friday at a separate White House event. The Huskies won their fifth national title by defeating San Diego State, 76-59, in April.
