Orchard Park, N.Y. — Less than 24 hours after another season-ending loss in the divisional round of the playoffs, the feeling around the Bills locker room cleanout Monday could only be described as numb.

It was almost a sense of disbelief that this team has to answer the question again of what it's going to take to get over the hump.

"I ask that question just like you ask that question," Isaiah McKenzie said. "I really don't know. We've got the players, we've got the coaches, we've got everything going, we're winning football games when we need them during the season. Then when we get to the playoffs, it's like, it's not there. I'm still not understanding that."

Josh Allen wouldn't call this season a step back and was asked the same question: What's it going to take?

"It's a loaded question," Allen said. "We've got to play better in the later parts of the season. We've got to find a way to peak at the right time, in the playoffs."

Von Miller knows what it takes to get over the hump and said he came to Buffalo to have multiple chances at another Super Bowl. He doesn't believe this season was his only shot.

"Just because we lost to the Bengals, it doesn't diminish the type of team that we have," Miller said. "It doesn't diminish our position in this league. We have a really good team, and our window is still open. Brighter days are definitely ahead for us."

Micah Hyde and Dawson Knox wouldn't make excuses for the loss but did admit that this team felt like it ran out of gas at the end of the season, especially emotionally, considering all the adversity it had to deal with on and off the field.
